My journey with yoga has gone from needing something to do while an injury kept me from running to becoming a passion that demands I share it with others. There is so much I appreciate about yoga, but what truly pulls me back onto my mat is the opportunity for physical expression. I love being able to move my body in ways that everyday life does not afford. There is freedom in movement, and yoga provides the space to fully feel what our amazing bodies can do. I cherish my role as teacher and strive to create meaningful movement for others.

I first tried yoga because I heard it was “good for me” and a great complement to my “real” workouts. I started with classes at the Y and liked the stretching aspect but didn’t fully connect with it until I tried hot yoga at Root Down Yoga. From my first class, I was hooked. Root Down quickly became one of my favorite places—a caring, welcoming community of kind teachers and students.

What started as a workout transformed into so much more. Yoga challenged me physically, shifted my mindset, and brought growth to my life. Now, I’m excited to share this incredible practice with others!

Yoga entered my life in 2009. It was a fun way to move my body that was low impact. It led to another invitation to join a small group of yogis practicing hot yoga in a garage. This was the beginning of Root Down Yoga. I now call these people my dearest friends. Through my practice and training over the years, yoga has helped me find the best version of myself. It reminds me when to take a pause, helps to pull me out of autopilot and provides the tools to help live a more authentic and joyful life. I love being a part of this community and am grateful for all the deep connections that come with it. I look forward to seeing you on your mat.

The adage, “the only constant is change” is certainly true and even more noticeable to me as I age. Since becoming part of the Root Down teaching family in 2011, there’s not one thing about my life that is the same. My beliefs, principles, and choices have all shifted. My teaching, yoga practice, and body weight has grown. Friendships have come and gone, my children have left the nest, and my health and the health of my family members has been challenged. I’m not the same person. Today, I want less of what’s not important and more of what is. Being here, at Root Down, is important. You have all become a beautiful community of friends, old and new, who encourage me to keep transforming. I hope you are inspired to do the same. Thank you for allowing me to be your teacher.

Yoga became my path to living fully and loving well. I started practicing a month after losing my dad, feeling angry, lonely, and empty. A friend suggested yoga, and as I practiced, I found moments of space, brief respites from grief and what-ifs.

Over time, yoga brought me into the present. I felt more connected to my breath, body, and life around me. It helped me find joy in the small moments and taught me to anchor myself in the here and now. With a joyful heart, I’m grateful for this journey. Namaste!

I discovered vinyasa yoga after years of not knowing what I was searching for and it continues to be life-changing even after many years of personal practice and teaching what I love to others. To practice in the warmth of our studio and within a community of breath, challenge, ease, acceptance and amidst bodies of every size, shape, age and ability, has been a continuous gift. On your mat, you will laugh, cry, be moved, be challenged, be silent and be amazed. As a mother of 4, a Lactation Consultant and as a person, I have endless opportunities to use the strength, flexibility and balance of both mind and body that has become available to me because of yoga. I can’t wait to share this practice with you!

From my very first yoga class I fell in love with the grace and strength of the practice. It was not just the physical grace and strength of the practice, but the alignment of grace and strength that I felt in my body and mind. To move and breathe mindfully you step into the present moment and a chance to respond with grace and intention. My classes are designed to provide the platform for a strong physical practice, and the opportunity for you to discover your own grace and inner strength. I invite you to join me for a class – be curious, be strong, be still, and find what is possible.

Yoga is something I can do for myself. I get to carve out time to be connected with my mind, my body and my breath. I am a wife and busy mom to 5 kids. It’s important to me to make time for myself. Root Down is a safe place for me to do just that. During that hour, time seems to stand still for a bit and I get to just Be! It’s also a place to learn and grow not only as a student but as a teacher too.

If I’m not practicing or teaching at Root Down, you can find me outside on a walk or run, spending time with my family or reading a good book.

My husband, Adam, and I are so fortunate to be the owners of Root Down Yoga Studio. It’s a wonderful community full of really lovely people. It really is a dream come true for us. We love what we do! I am looking forward to getting to know you and hope to see you at Root Down really soon.

Yoga has been an integral part of my life for more than 30 years. Before I came to Root Down as a student in 2019, I studied and practiced Sivananda yoga and Iyengar yoga. At Root Down, I found a vinyasa style that is both challenging and invigorating along with a welcoming community. Since I completed my 200-hour teacher training with The Yoga Project in 2023, it has been my privilege to share yoga with anyone who wants to benefit from the profound experience of this practice. I invite you to join me on this journey of self-care and self-discovery.

Yoga entered my life after years of chronic stress, bad eating habits, and poor self esteem. I originally started because I was trying to get active and get into shape. But what had me coming back time after time, was the way my body and mind gradually reduced stress. To be honest, I didn’t even realize how stressed out my mind and body was until I started yoga. Yoga has made me more mindful of my body, breath and mind.
Coming to class allows me to give myself an uninterrupted 60 minutes of being present. With the connection of body and breath, I can focus on not just using my body to get into a pose, but use the pose to get into my body.
I’m grateful to have this beautiful and safe space to practice and grow. Not only as a student, teacher, but as a person.

My grandma Marion lived to 98, and I often wonder if I’ll follow in her footsteps and even reach 100. What motivates me in yoga is the humbling thought that I might have more than 50 years to live in THIS body! I’m passionate about keeping my body strong and healthy, and helping others do the same. Through teaching yoga, I hope to inspire you and equip you with the skills to experience more joy, strength, balance, and ease, no matter your age or what life brings your way!

I was first introduced to yoga in college but it wasn’t until a few years later when I really began appreciating the practice after having my first child. It was a way to reconnect to my body, build strength + stability, and regulate my anxiety. I completed my 230 hour Yoga Training in 2019 and went on to obtain certificates in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Meditation + Breathwork. My background in Social Work inspires me to create an environment in every class where students feel safe and empowered to personalize their own practice. When I am not teaching or practicing in the studio, I typically have a coffee in hand and you can find me reading, hiking, going to live music, or hanging out with my family. I am so excited to experience this practice with you!

Yoga found me through a simple invitation from a friend, and it was love at first practice! I quickly realized yoga impacted me in a unique way—whether it was the breath, the physical challenge, the peace on the mat, or just connecting with amazing people. Each practice brought a new, incredible experience for my mind and body, so I kept coming back. Yoga has transformed my life, reminding me to let go, stay present, approach challenges with compassion, and simply breathe. One of its greatest gifts is that it’s a continuous practice, both on and off the mat.

Lately, combining yoga with nature and water has sparked a new passion, SUP (stand-up paddle board) yoga. After hours on the water and training, I’m lucky to spend my summers paddling and teaching SUP yoga. It’s amazing to practice and teach yoga on a floating board, soaking in the surroundings. Come join me and experience it for yourself! This journey is ever-evolving, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Yoga has helped me learn how to focus my attention on what is real and right now. That may be the sensation I am feeling in my body while I am in a pose, the conversation I’m having with a loved one, or the beauty of my surroundings. This practice has helped me manage reactivity, impulsivity and my fear of the unknown. By learning how to access what is real and let go of what might be or what was, I experience more ease and joy. I think the most important gift yoga has given me is a reconnection with my own inner knowing. My classes are strong and steady with an emphasis on breath and body awareness. I draw from my own experiences and the great teachers I’ve had the honor of studying with. I see each class as a practice, as teacher and student, to stay connected to what is needed moment by moment and respond accordingly. I look forward to the opportunity to share this practice with you!

Why yoga practice? Because this practice changed my life, more than anything else I’ve ever done. In fact, this practice didn’t just change my life, it saved it. Why do I teach? Simple, to pass along that gift to you.

I want you to know, you’re ready. You’re ready NOW. However you show up is perfect. You don’t need to be different. You just need to show up. All the healing and possibility you seek is already in you, this practice will reveal it. Come. Practice. You’re ready NOW. I’m so excited to see what we discover.
